Winter Weather Updates

REPUBLIC SERVICES:

1/9/25:  Republic Services has cancelled all trash services for today, January 9, 2025 AND tomorrow, January 10, 2025. They will return to regular schedule and pick up on Monday, January 13, 2025.

 
CITY HALL:

1/8/25:  The offices at City Hall will be closed on Thursday, January 9. Our Police and Public Works Departments will continue to serve our residents. Residents should report power outages directly to their energy provider and water issues directly to our offices at 682-229-2400. For water emergencies after hours, call 817-565-4169. For Police and Fire emergencies, please call 911. To reach the staff at City Hall, please call 682-229-2400, 

 

FROM THE US NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH:

1/9/25

➤➤ Travel conditions will be their WORST tonight into Friday morning. Stay home if you can! Things will start to improve in the DFW Metroplex late morning/midday on Friday Any water on the roads will refreeze Friday night with hazardous travel AGAIN Saturday morning!

➤ ➤Combined snow & sleet amounts between 2-5 inches are forecast along & north of I-20. There is an increasing threat for intense banded snowfall north & northeast of the Metroplex which may result in isolated snowfall accumulations between 8-10 inches resulting in higher impacts.

We can't rule out light ice accumulations on elevated surfaces like bridges, overpasses, and trees. Ice accumulation only pertains to precipitation that is falling as rain and freezing upon contact with an object. Up to 0.10" of ice possible south/southwest of the DFW Metroplex.

 

1/8/25

➤ ➤Both a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Storm Watch are now in effect near and north of I-20. Within the Warning, there will be mainly snow with 2-4 inches of snow possible. In the Watch, a wintry mix is possible with 1-2" of snow and up to 0.10" of ice. Consider altering or delaying late week travel plans as travel will become hazardous, particularly on untreated roads and elevated bridges/roadways.

 

1/7/25

➤ ➤A WINTER STORM WATCH is now in effect for parts of North Texas generally along and north of I-20 where snowfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches will be possible on Thursday. Farther south, lighter amounts of snow, sleet, and some ice will be possible. Consider altering or delaying late week travel plans and keep up with the forecast over the coming days.
