Outdoor Warning Sirens
In case of severe weather, the City of Hudson Oaks uses outdoor warning sirens to alert residents who are outdoors to seek substantial shelter. These sirens are activated by the National Weather Service System. There are two (2) warning sirens located in the City: one is located at the Public Safety Building on 150 North Oakridge Drive and the other is located at New River Fellowship Church on E I-20 Frontage Road.
If it corresponds to our area, the outdoor warning sirens will activate under the following criteria:
- Tornado Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS)
- Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS)
Phone Notification Alerts
Due to the sirens being an outdoor warning mechanism, it may only be heard when outdoors. In addition, the City provides emergency phone notification alerts as well. To receive these notifications for our area, you may sign up through Blackboard Connect.
The phone notification alerts are activated by City staff under the following criteria:
- Tornado Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS)
- Severe Thunderstorm Warnings when there are winds of 70 mph or greater and hail that is one inch (1") or greater
