Press Release: Temporary Traffic Control at FM-5/IH-20

March 14th, 2016

Hudson Oaks, Texas (March 14, 2016) -- The City of Hudson Oaks announces a temporary traffic control plan for the intersection at FM-5 (Mikus Road) and Interstate 20. In a meeting coordinated by Hudson Oaks Mayor Pat Deen, the City of Hudson Oaks reached an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the City of Willow Park, and the Town of Annetta North for temporary measures intended to alleviate significant traffic delays and public safety concerns during the evening rush hour period.

Beginning March 14, 2016, the City of Hudson Oaks and the City of Willow Park will have uniformed police officers coordinating traffic flow at the intersection to reduce congestion on the westbound frontage road and southbound FM-5. Officers will provide traffic control measures Monday through Friday during the evening rush hour period.

These traffic control measures will continue while TxDOT completes a study for the installation of temporary traffic signals and lane re-striping at the intersection. This study is currently underway, and temporary signals are expected to be installed later this spring/summer.

“This intersection has become a major concern, both for the convenience of Parker County residents and for the safety of those driving through it,” said Mayor Deen. “TxDOT has been a great transportation partner and we are thankful for their response to help alleviate traffic in Parker County.”
