This project will install approximately 25 miles of fiber-optic cable throughout the city, connecting all city facilities and outposts. Surplus bandwidth will be leased for the purpose of providing a reliable, high-speed internet service to our residents and businesses.

Construction has been completed, and final punch list items are being addressed. NextLink plans to begin testing services toward the beginning of June.
October 9, 2017
Boring crews have moved into the Diamond Oaks subdivision. They will begin work near Lakeshore Drive and Raven Bend, and will move south toward the back end of the subdivision.
September 13, 2017
Construction begins today, focusing in the early days on the underground work. Properties in Parker Oaks will be impacted first as crews begin marking and exposing existing utility crossings. In Parker Oaks, all boring will occur along the street right-of-way. Bore pits will be covered and secured when/if left overnight, and all holes will be backfilled and re-sodded once work is finished.

Oncor make-ready work has been delayed, but Oncor is working to expedite the remaining work. Construction phasing is being reconsidered so that underground work can begin before the aerial installation.
May 25, 2017
A construction contract was awarded to HMI Communications out of Lewisville, Texas. Construction is expected to begin later this year once the necessary repairs and upgrades are made to all utility poles needed for the project.
